Statement on the Manchester synagogue attack

Other

UNISON is horrified at the terrorist attack on the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue yesterday, which left two people dead and many more injured.

It was a violent, antisemitic attack on the Jewish community in Manchester which will also have spread deep fear and concern across the whole Jewish community in the UK.

UNISON stands in solidarity with Jewish people at this incredibly distressing time.

Our thoughts are with those who have lost loved ones and all those affected, both directly and indirectly. We are also grateful to the emergency services and members of the public who helped in the aftermath of the attack.

Jewish people should not have to live in fear in the UK. We all have a role to play in stamping out antisemitism.

UNISON, now and always, will challenge antisemitism and campaign against hate and extremism.
